1996 - 1999
My first laser show was just a speaker with a spring and mirror that reflected a laser pointer. After that, the beasts took on lives of their own. Numerous iterations--diffraction gratings, rotating mirrors, pattern generators, pools of vibrating water that reflected beams, crossovers to make different axes respond to different frequencies—contributed to the entertainment. The one pictured here had three lasers that rotated and danced in unison, six different colored strobe lights (removing the flash units from junk cameras will give you respect for high voltage!) that flashed to the bass. A smoke unit that made the beams visible and a beam chopper added excitment. The smoke produced an aroma that left something to be desired and triggered a few alarms.
