Trebuchet. 1996 Inspired by a Scientific American article, my younger brother, Michael, and I wanted to build a catapult. We were amazed when our first trebuchet hurled a water balloon out of sight (pictured here with Mike manning the battle station). After just five shots, it had ripped itself to pieces and had inspired us to build a larger more robust version replete with shock absorbers. Mike poured a hundred pound concrete counterweight. “Big Bertha” is still under construction. back to portfolio |
